Spencer Court is situated adjacent to the Mansfield Road Baptist Church and near to the junction of Sherwood Rise with Gregory Boulevard and Mansfield Road. It is convenient for local shops on Mansfield Road and is on good bus routes to Nottingham, Bulwell, Sherwood and Arnold.
The complex opened in 2001 and consists of 20 one-bedroom apartments, all suitable for one or two persons. All have fitted kitchens and their own economy 7 electric central heating and hot water supply. Sockets for TV and telephone are provided.
The apartments are pleasantly located around a central court with lawns and landscaped gardens. There is plenty of seating within the garden and tenants like sitting out on a sunny day, sharing a cup of tea with like-minded neighbours for company.
The communal area contains a spacious lounge, library, computer and internet facility. There is a well equipped laundry and also a furnished guest room.
Social activities include a Wednesday lunch club, games night, dance and craft classes, music and movement sessions, coffee mornings, film nights and a variety of outings. Regular shopping trips using the Association’s minibus are also popular.
Special occasions are often celebrated with parties in the lounge.
The warden and her husband started organising fundraising Sunday lunches when the association was busy raising money for the development of Spencer Court. These have proved so popular that they are now a regular monthly activity.
